Boulder Transit Hub
This multimodal transit hub in Boulder Junction is shaped by the idea of lifting the curtain to put the modes of transit on display. A timber facade rises and opens to reveal stacked train tracks, the bike path, a new bus lane cut, the car drop-off and parking, and the circulation of people, making transit itself the building’s main exhibit. Inspired by model train display boxes, a double glass facade frames this movement while allowing light, shadows, and seasons to flourish across the structure. Inside, mass timber, steel, and organic forms organize a fluid sequence that doubles as a Boulder transit history museum, with a third level display train and exhibits all throughout the circulation. Outdoor terraced platforms guide pedestrians to the lower level retail and seating while being encouraged to go up to the 3rd level train deck. The station acts as a gateway from the past to the present while providing a choreographed experience.
